Features and Benefits

“The new Paulsen Airway™ combines the oral airway and suction catheter into one device—placing the suction exactly where it needs to be, making the procedure safer and more comfortable for the patient. ”

The Paulsen Airway™ is anatomically engineered to the patient’s airway allowing the customized suction catheter to sit in the hypo-pharynx at an optimal depth. The Airway’s patented design has a rapid evacuation port that removes airway secretions quickly, while the unique lateral channels remain open to allow gases to free flow, providing for adequate gas exchange.

Increasing safety for patients receiving critical care is ongoing. The Paulsen Airway™ decreases the chance of cross contamination from devices like the suction catheter that are repeatedly introduced into the airway after being exposed to hospital surfaces.1

Finding ways to minimize single-use plastics has become a focus for many hospitals. The Paulsen Airway™ negates the need for a separate suction catheter, eliminating up to 20 pounds of single use plastics per 100 procedures.*

The Paulsen Airway features and benefits, including 3 unique suction ports to increase suction time and improve patient comfort

Suction Power

The Paulsen Airway™ evacuates airway secretions quickly and efficiently deep into the pharyngeal region.

Airway Cleaning

The Paulsen Airway™ has an easy hook up for conventional nasal cannula oxygenation. Oxygen will flow freely through the lateral channels while the midline catheter keeps the airway clean.

Why is The Paulsen Airway Better?

“Traditional suction catheters can be difficult to reach deep into patients’ airways, especially when oral airways are in use. When providing anesthesia on missions overseas, the need to rely on one product to maintain airway patency was clear. Repeated attempts to clear the airway with the traditional system can lead to increased airway trauma, delayed suction time, and ineffective airway clearance. The Paulsen Airway™ only needs to be inserted once to control all the variables—no matter the environment.”
